We quickly descended the Eldorado Glacier, hugging the rock on its south side on the descent, which proved to be an efficient way down. This shot is looking back up from the toe of the glacier. We'd seen it move a fair bit of ice down the slabs the day before, and had seen remnants of a fairly large ice deposit that had bounded down and across the upper Roush Basin, probably earlier that morning.
We stopped at the slabs and filled our water bottles at a small fountain running over the rock, guzzling a liter before stowing them (giardia: it ain't so bad), shed our shell gear, packed up the rope and harnesses, then started down the basin to ascend the class 3 gully that would take us down the final descent past our intermediate camp, through an unending talus field and into the lush forest and finally to the goddam truck.
