Eldorado East Ridge
31 August - 2 September 2001:
No Myth

Since he was up, Brett made espresso - some of the best I've had - and we ate soggy oatmeal and watched wave after wave of rain move in. We sat there for hours, and only once got excited by the momentary sucker holes in the sky. We knew better.

This was my fourth attempt of a Cascade peak (not counting Shasta). On all but one I'd had pretty good weather, which is atypical for the range. Today I was seeing True Nature.

I don't know... In a sick way it's kind of fun. But in a practical way it was looking like we might get shut down. We began to talk about waiting for a break late, then heading all the way up in a light dash from our 5400' bivy with no gear, tagging the top and coming back down. All we could do was wait.

Which we did. And did.

And... [shut up].
