It was very frustrating and not a little scary looking up at our route and seeing winds raging and thick clouds gathering, all the while lowering down over our route. I just wasn't willing to climb a route I couldn't see. Under any other circumstance I don't think I would have had a problem with it. But as Jeff K. said, to do so would be "sort of thumbing our noses" at the situation. Craig and John had disappeared in weather like this. I did know one thing: John wouldn't have wanted us to get hurt. So we continued to wait for our partners. Meanwhile, Shastina disappeared from view.
