Mike on the middle leg of the approach.
I was happy to get a turn out front, even if it was only a slog and not difficult. It made me feel like I was contributing something. I even got to give a seated snow belay at one point, which made my backside quite cold through my Black Diamond alpine pants. I knew the first crux pitch would go to Brian, and I wanted to do as much as I could on the route. At least until we saw it, I was intent on leading the second pitch, which was very easy the first time I had climbed the route. |
