Polaroid Surprise

I was keeping up appearances, but I was having one of the worst days physically that I've had in the hills. It's my own fault. I'd been doing nothing but driving a desk and/or a couch since September of 2002. We elected to leave the rope out as we had no idea what was above us, and we didn't want to fiddle with it.

I went out front, because I needed the opportunity to completely fall apart anaerobically at a controlled pace: my own.

For those of you taking notes, this is Brian and my own particular brand of Extreme Alpinism: Extremely Slow.
