We packed up, wanting to get out as quickly as possible to save the rest of the trip for another, frankly, consolation objective. There was no real gloom (for me, that came later, as I more fully realized what I wrote about just previously), only low-level disappointment and a desire for a shower.

For the technophiles, we both used 130cm shortie approach skis with Silvretta 500 bindings of varying vintage. There were just the ticket for all the snow and are light enough to easily hand-carry over the brief bits that are too tricky (for me) to ski in leather mountaineering boots. |
