I had brought up an alternate descent to the notoriously loose rock of the D.C. route before we started the climb. When we reached the top of the Ingraham Chris reminded me of the proposition and we quickly decided to take our chances on a more direct and potentially... interesting line back to camp via the glacier. We didn't have any desire to downclimb loose rock and snow at this point, in very high winds to boot.
Here, Brett leads Chris and I down into the seracs banding the top of the glacier. Brett did a great job getting us through and back down to camp.
As a side note, compare the angle of the glacier with the horizon. Odd, eh? It's amazing what you can trick your body into believing. For example, "Hello, body? This snow and ice here? It's level. Got that? Good. Okay, let's walk down."
