Your eyes do not deceive you. This is the body taper, or "wedge" (David gives full credit to Manzer and I thanked her for the design at Newport). There is a little less material on the bass side, a bit more on the trebles. This makes the guitar very comfortable to play. Why more builders don't do the same thing is a mystery to me... But hey, I have this guitar, so I don't need another...
