"An impressive new talent. Half Pint, showcases [Mike's] unique combination of feel and flair. One minute you'll be carried along by a Hedges-inspired groove, and the next, Mike will tempt you with sweet melodies reminiscent of Bensusan. Very few players are able to achieve this blend of technique and taste so successfully."

Mike Golay: Solo Acoustic Guitarist
Mike Golay is a solo acoustic fingerstyle guitarist whose musical identity is informed by Jazz, Celtic, Bluegrass, Rock, Pop, Punk, Folk, Funk, Ska, Hip-hop, Classical and World Music, as well as a lot of other stuff he can't articulate at the moment. He calls what he does "Heavy Folk." He is a former student of renowned fingerstylist Al Petteway. His playing has been compared to that of Pierre Bensusan, Leo Kottke, Adrian Legg and Michael Hedges. It's throb-o-rific.
Banshee Records released Golay's debut recording Half Pint in April of 2003 to excellent reviews. The record includes 12 tracks and features nine original compositions by the Portland, ME-based guitarist, who produced and engineered his first effort.
Golay completed the recording of his second album Across the Bridge in the Spring of 2005. Grammy-winning guitarist Al Petteway co-produced and played on four of the 18 tracks. The album was released in November 2005. Since the release of his first two records, Golay's music has been used for a number of film projects.
Golay is currently at work on a third album.
