Conditions check: High winds, spindrift, half a foot of new, windblown snow in camp.
Head check: Just fine, thank you.

It was over. The wind was blowing steady at 20-25mph. The forecast was for Nasty. A front was moving in. Dark clouds whizzed by. Rappelling down into this stuff was a very bad idea. And we'd had enough.

James was first up. I heard him futzing with the stove and I did my best to extract myself from my bivy sack. I opened the zipper and was blasted with spindrift. Good morning.

We packed up and made hot drinks. At least I had one. James was out of drink mix. I shared half a cup of coffee with him, we got our packs on, and got the heck out of Dodge.
