Desperate But Not Serious

one, one too many
schizophrenic tendencies
keeps it complicated
keeps it agggravated
and full of this hopelessness
what a perfect mess...
-King Crimson

Happy elf?
Evil elf?

You decide.

We had been killing some time on Thursday and I had seen these hats on closeout at EMS. Brian found the hat bothersome, so I thought I would purchase one and wear it constantly. Life is, in fact, good. If you don't believe me, check the web site.

As a side note, speaking of bothering one another, I have to also say thanks to Brian for putting up with my twanging on the trip. I'd brought along my Yamaha travel guitar in an attempt to work on a few things, and to have something to do in the seemingly likely event that we weren't climbing. As it turned out, I found the instrument nearly impossible to play, owing mainly to the fact that I've become very, very spoiled from playing Al's custom Sifel guitar, still graciously on loan.

Also, as another random tidbit, I finally began reading David Foster Wallace's A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again: Essays and Arguments, a collection of the author's work which has been on my bookshelf for a couple of years. I had read the title piece in excerpted form in the very funny but long gone MIGHT magazine probably five or six years ago. Highly recommended. The piece on David Lynch is fantastic.
